Facts about Veronica

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Kitten
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 10812056
  • Hair: Short

This special kitten has a story to tell! Veronica is a beautiful 14 week old buff and white female. She is becoming so beautiful and her fur is exactly as soft as rabbit fur!

This special kitten was found by a kind person who couldn't keep her and brought her to the shelter. He truly is concerned about his foundling, has sponsored her care and visits her every day.
Veronica arrived in bad shape with an upper respiratory infection complete with crusty eyes, runny rose, etc. She is bouncing back quickly with antibiotics. She also appears to have been injured in her short life because she has a deep scar running the entire length of her lower lip. This is healed and doesn't concern Veronica at all.
Veronica will need a protected indoor lifestyle because it is almost certain she is profoundly deaf. This should in no way affect her ability to lead a normal, long and happy life. She will not be able to hear traffic or other dangers and won't have the necessary reaction times- therefore an indooor only home is a must.
This kitten is as shy as a fawn in her cage- maybe partly due to her inability to only see what is happening around her- plus the fact that she hasn't had any good breaks in her life. But she LOVES to be cuddled ~ and needs to be cuddled. This special kitten will need a patient and gentle adopter to help her in her life without sound. What a nice friend Veronica will be!
Veronica is unique in that she does not meow! She comes right forward to enjoy canned cat food though and is like every young kitten in most ways.
If you're a nurturer, Veronica wants to meet you. It's time for her luck to change!
Be her Hero!

Litterbox trained.

About Lenoir County SPCA

About Our Shelter...

We are seeing increasingly growing numbers of family pets turned in due to the weak economy, vacations and moving plans, in addition to the strays and abandoned animals being brought in by Animal Control. We usually see a decrease in the number of adoptions much to the same reasons. Therefore, we will be continuously overcrowded and have many wonderful animals desperate for safe, loving homes.

IF YOU SEE an animal you are interested in, please call the shelter and see if it is still available. The shelter does not have computer access, email is checked by a volunteer at their home, therefore, you SHOULD CALL THE SHELTER if you do not get a response from emailing. Animals are given 72 hours to be adopted, sometimes they are kept a few days longer if space is available. This website is updated weekly.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Shelter hours are Monday thru Saturday 12 noon to 4 p.m. and closed on Sundays.

Our Adoption Process...

There is always a constant flow of animals at the shelter, making it nearly impossible to keep an accurate web page. There are always several more at the shelter than what you may see here. I encourage you to visit the shelter. Adopting a pet is very easy. We have everyone fill out a questionaire, including a veterinary reference, just to make sure our animals get the best homes possible. There is a $115.00 donation for all dogs and a $85.00 dollar donation for cats, which includes a spay/neuter certificate, a rabies vaccine, worming and a distemper vaccine for the animal. You are required to take the animal into a vet within three to five days to insure its health and to get any additional shots.

We are very pleased and fortunate to on occasion be able to place some of our wonderful pets into all breed or breed specific rescue groups where they will be safe and cared for until their forever home is found. To ensure that our animals are placed into legitimate and proper rescue groups, there is a screening process for the organization. If you are with a rescue organization and are interested in one of our animals, please email Kris, our Rescue Coordinator.

You will be required to provide your organization's adoption contract, vet name and number so that verification can be obtained to condition of animals in your care, name of director or intake director, a brief overview of screening process, and any information about your organization you feel is necessary.
