Facts about CLARA

  • Breed: Maltese
  • Color: White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 10813616-CLARA

We picked her up a week or so ago--a real sweet little lady.

Her humans have 3 other dogs - and can no longer care for her and were planning on taking her to Animal Control. Her vet convinced them NOT to do that, but to reach out to a rescue group to re-home her. She reached out to Grateful Paws.

CLARA is a 7 1/2 year old Maltese, weighing 9 1/2 lbs. -- up to date on vaccines and recently groomed. She does need a dental and a growth removed from her back (minor surgery) which was scheduled for this past Wednesday, BUT our Vet discovered a mild heart murmur and wants to consult with the cardiologist before these procedures are performed.

We got the report TODAY - and while she does have a murmur, she can go ahead with the procedures -(safely) and will NOT be on any heart meds.  We are advised she is totally housebroken, and kid & dog friendly - not sure about cats though.  If you or someone you know is interested in a small white fluffy female, please email for an application NOW. These little white fluffies do not last long.

Adoption/Rehoming fee:  $300

Her adoption fee will be applied towards her vet bill -- Email:

Please email for an application:

NOTE: Adoption fees are applied towards the vet bill: Exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

About Grateful Paws Dog & Cat Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of animal loving people who volunteer our time to save the life of a dog or cat in need. We are not breed specific but our ability to help depends entirely upon whether we have a foster home in which toi place the pet while we are looking for a new forever home.

We are entirely volunteer and none of us are compensated for our time or efforts. Monies donated go directy to the animals in our care.

Come Meet Our Pets...

For the most part, we reply primarily on the internet because we all work full-time jobs during the week!

We do not have a physical building - but we try to participate in Saturday adoption events from 11am - 3pm, on a regular basis. Please check our website for our most current calendar that shows where we will be.

It is always best to check the Upcoming Events page of our website

or give us a call to find out where we are going to be. Week nights 954-462-8840 eves after 8pm or on the week-ends: 954-579-3753.

Our EMAIL is monitored day and night, and is the BEST way to contact us.

Our Adoption Process...

We perform a telephone or in-person interview and ask our perspective adopters to complete an application for review by our board (generally takes a day or less). We want to meet the family, so we will come to your house to see where our pet will live. We do a vet check and if applicable, a landlord or condo association check as well. And finally, we accept an adoption donation that is applied towards the vet and care bill for that pet. The range is from $75 to $300.
