Scarlet is a young German Shepherd Dog. We estimate that she's only 1-2 years old (still an adolescent). She's an average-sized female, and she will probably weigh around 70 pounds when she's filled out.
She is affectionate with her foster family, but one must earn her trust and give her time to come around. Once she does, she loves to be part of the family. She's a gentle, sweet-natured soul. She needs her people to look out for her and keep her safe, as she's not very brave.
Scarlet gets along very well with the other dogs in the home, and she still sometimes acts like a puppy when she plays with other friendly dogs. She takes her cues from other dogs on how to behave, so she would likely thrive in a home with a confident dog to keep teaching her the ropes. She is curious about cats and wants to lick them (which the kitties do not particularly appreciate in her foster home).
She is already crate trained, and is mostly house trained (carpets still confuse her though). She's also already got good leash manners and is a good walking buddy. She's eager to please, and positive training methods are essential to continue building her self-esteem.
She needs a patient, loving family that will give her time to come out of her shell. We would like to find her a calm, peaceful home (loud noises and fast movements scare her). We thus do not think she's suitable for a home with young, rambunctious kids. She would likely be just fine with older kids with calm or introverted personalities though.
