August would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for a loving and loyal lap dog. At just about 5 or so years old and 8 lbs, August is so portable that he can be a full-time best friend accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and very sweet dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments, as well as so very cute, end up in urgent situations. It just doesn't get much cuter and sweeter than August. It's difficult to tell, but once August gets his first bath and grooming, he'll be the most handsome guy around. Once his matts are gone, August will emerge with a new-found sense of confidence and self-esteem.

August was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal Texas shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is awesome with so much life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family.

August, being newly rescued from a very challenging life, is a blank slate waiting to learn about his world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement group training class, August can have great behavior and be a very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart!

August may be frightened initially after transport since rehoming is scary ..but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine We envision August with loving and kind retirees...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that August is a needy guy...not at all...he just loves the company of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits.

August appears to like children...but we would only be open to older, dog-crazy kids who can be gentle and understanding that August is a small guy and needs soft and gentle handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery, August would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk, fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air, so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then, maybe his favorite's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people.

August is a non-shedding guy and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breeds available today. He will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free.

August will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/2/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving guy, please fill out and return to, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.

About Farfel's Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm on Pearl Street in Boulder, CO. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude for our good luck. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Pets are transported from the southern states approximately twice per month. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a 2-week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

Our Adoption Process...

All potential adoptions start out as a 2-week mandatory foster period. During that time, Farfel's covers all vet issues if one of Farfel's rescue vets is used. We also serve as a support with trainers and behaviorists on board for questions. An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their 2-week foster. Our average adoption fee runs about $395. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, heart worm testing, temperament testing and transport. Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.
