Facts about Kelsie

  • Breed: Schnauzer (Miniature)/Cairn Terrier Mix
  • Color: White
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
When Kelsie's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the terrified yet adorable (and so sad-looking) Kelsie tucked tightly into a cage...her time was up. Farfel's Rescue immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this little Schnauzer/Cairn Terrier mix is..and the need to save her life. We immediately agreed and Kelsie became a very treasured Farfel's dog. She earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with her great personality (although initially a bit shy..who wouldn't be?) and her kind attitude toward the world. At just about 9 - 12 months old and a perfect lap-size of 14 lbs, this beautiful girl is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best adult dog she's capable of being.

We'd love to match Kelsie to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable pup..she will fall completely in love with these special people and there's no more loyal companion around than Kelsie. She's a perfect size to accompany her family just about anywhere...and would love it.

Kelsie has gotten a ton of hugs and attention at the shelter. You immediately know she's sweet...and just a touch fragile and vulnerable right now. It's clear that she hadn't been properly cared for in the past and we can't wait for a great family to make her the diva she should be. After some great nutrition and a spa day, Cindy will be a beautiful and fuzzy teddy bear (with the cutest face around).

When Kelsie turns her gentle (yet very wise) look in your direction, you can't help but smile at her soft gaze and adorable ways. You can see just a touch of a sign that this young dog has had difficult times. But not for her to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Kelsie's style.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for an very loving family ( with older, very gentle kids would be great) for Kelsie. It's not that she doesn't like very young kids...she does...we're just concerned with tail-pulling and awkward carrying. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this for this beautiful girl. She would thrive on the time and attention that she could share. Kelsie is a very loyal and positive-minded dog..that makes her easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado.

Kelsie would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who could be gentle playmates. When you're only 14 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs.

Kelsie will be the most beautiful girl on the block after a sudsy bath and grooming. She will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great) to keep her beautiful coat cottony-soft and matt-free.

Cindy will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/2/16. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.

About Farfel's Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm on Pearl Street in Boulder, CO. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude for our good luck. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Pets are transported from the southern states approximately twice per month. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a 2-week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

Our Adoption Process...

All potential adoptions start out as a 2-week mandatory foster period. During that time, Farfel's covers all vet issues if one of Farfel's rescue vets is used. We also serve as a support with trainers and behaviorists on board for questions. An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their 2-week foster. Our average adoption fee runs about $395. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, heart worm testing, temperament testing and transport. Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.
