Please visit our website at: www.austindog.org for full details about Petra and the most current, up-to-date status of all of our dogs available for adoption. Once you have read about them, and decide you would like to adopt, please fill out our online adoption application located on our website.
Austin Dog Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and re-homing shelter dogs in Austin, Texas and the surrounding areas.
Since 2006 we have found almost 600 dogs forever homes! We can always use donations and volunteers, so check out our website at http://www.austindog.org if you want to help!
Our Adoption Process...
To adopt from us, you'll need to fill out an application on our website at http://www.austindog.org. We require a vet reference. Renters must have written permission from their landlords in order to adopt from us.
If your application is approved, we'll come to your home for a visit. This is just to be sure that you live in an environment that is safe for a dog.
After your application has been approved and your home visit has been completed, you're ready to adopt. We require a $165 adoption fee and a signed contract at the time we release the dog to your care. You can change your mind within three days for a refund of your adoption fee. Should you change your mind after the three day period, we will not provide a refund.
If you ever decide to give up guardianship of a dog adopted from us, for any reason, you must return the dog to our care.
Thank You! Your message has been sent to Austin Dog Rescue.
You'll receive a copy, too, at
to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter!
Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
