This happy little terrier is full of spunk and personality! Deacon was rescued from a shelter when he was picked up as a stray. He came to us after he was having some trouble adjusting in his foster home, and needed some direction and a little training. Now, after months of being in training, Deacon has finally graduated his program and is ready for a new lease on life!
Deacon is an interesting pup, who is some kind of schnauzer/cairn terrier mix. He has a bubbly personality which you expect to find in the terrier breeds, along with that small bit of stubbornness! Deacon is a medium pup that weighs around 35 lbs and is estimated to be about 2 years of age. Though he is still young, he is already trained as far as housebreaking, his leash skills, and his kennel training. Deacon loves other dogs, so much so that we feel it might be best if he had another fur sibling to play with. As much as he loves other dogs, sometimes he can't take the hint that they are done playing and can be a little frustrating for some. He currently gets along wonderfully with all of his other foster siblings and plays constantly with them. He doesn't mind his feline friends at all either, though we suggest them to be supervised because like with the dogs, he just loves to play! Deacon does well meeting new people but we would suggest older children as younger kids and their loud noise and erratic behavior can be a bit much sometimes for Deacon. He needs his quiet time in his kennel sometimes.
Deacon is a pup that thrives on commands and direction, he needs an adopter who is going to keep him happy and healthy by stimulating his intelligent mind with things like continued training, mind games and outdoor activities. These things help keep his brain well exercised so that he can be well balanced and behaved. Deacon knows some of his basics already such as sit, stay and settle. He also knows the word No, just like all "kids" should and he responds to training very well as he is easily motivated by food, toys and affection. He is kennel trained, and we suggest that it be continued as he enjoys having a quiet, safe place all his own to spend his time when he is resting. Sometimes he can be on edge if not using his kennel so we suggest a quiet place where he can go and be alone if he likes.
Deacon is fully vetted meaning he is current on all vaccinations, neutered, on monthly flea and HW prevention, and is microchipped. If you are interested in Deacon please contact us at KMCRescue@Gmail.com for an application!
