Blake is a very handsome and predictably smart herding dog mix. He came to us as a stray so we do not know what his life was like prior to coming to BDAR.
Blake is a bigger herding dog with long legs and lean frame that weighs 50 pounds. In typical border collie style, Blake is busy and intense, and tends to lean on and show some friendly herding behaviors with people. He can be playful and affectionate and is always eager to learn and perform new behaviors. Blake is not a good fit for a home with cats but we think he should be compatible with children over 5.
Blake generally gets along well with other dogs but occasionally takes exception to certain other males. We would prefer to see him in a home with female dogs only, but would consider a meet and greet for another male dog. He shows alpha male tendencies and may take exception to another male dog with a strong personality.
This great dog is enrolled in our DOG Project program and will graduate around December 2nd. DOG Project dogs are paired with prison inmate handlers for a period of at least 6 weeks where they learn basic obedience and agility, leash walking, crate training, and handling skills. Project graduate adopters can look forward to a head start in training if they choose to further it upon adoption.
Ask us about Blake soon, this handsome guy won't be available for long!
