Buddy is a two year old social boy who loves other dogs, kids, cats and his toys! Buddy is a special boy because he also has a love/hate relationship with his tail. At times something about his tail tends to bother him and he spins in circles trying to catch it. It's quite endearing but also something you can't interrupt him doing or he will snip you. He has zero aggression, but he gets so focused he forgets it's his tail he is chasing. He's been to our vets and it has been determined to be strictly behavioral. He is not injured. He is not in pain. He just needs a patient home to show him love and affection and give him his space/time to chase his tail. Stress and anxiety definitely add to his tail chasing. Once he settles down and is distracted with play and fun he settles right into being a calm comfortable dog. Please give Buddy his well deserved chance at a home! We rescued him from a high kill shelter in GA where his family surrendered him to be euthanized because of his tail chasing. I can't even think of buddy not being a part of this world!! He's such a charmer and handsome little dude! Buddy would do best in a home with other dogs/cats and older children who respect his space when needed... Buddy weighs 25lb.
About BARRK Bark Animal Rescue & Rehab for K9'S - NY Chapter
BARRKLI was created by Kristina Howley after many years of working with many wonderful groups in the animal rescue industry. Most recently my work with SNARR Animal Rescue Northeast has encouraged me to begin a new chapter of rescue focusing on the NYACC abandoned and "at risk" shelter dogs. While I will continue to help and support SNARR NE for the wonderful work they do, I am excited and hopeful to roll out BARRKLI to help even more dogs in the NY shelters and those in other area shelters of dire need. My initial goal is to build a small team of support for the local NYACC shelter dogs and eventually expand to help as many dogs as I can. One thing I have learned over the many years in rescue, is that the most successful rescuers have accepted that we can't save them all but the ones we do save we certainly can give our all too. My motto is and will continue to be "one dog at a time". And for that one dog, may his/her life be changed forever
