Hi my name is Andie and I am a sweet senior gal that was rescued from the local shelter just minutes before being put to sleep. I am around about 8 years old and am a nice medium size weighing around 45 pounds. I am extremely loving and if I had my way I would be glued to my owners side every waking moment! I love my person/people unconditionally but I need some time to gain trust so I must go to an understanding and patient home. My foster mom isn't sure what my life was like before I was rescued but it is obvious that I get overwhelmed easily in busy situations and was likely abused. The vet told my foster mom that I am "face shy" with strangers. This means that new people should not get him my face. Once I know you and trust you, you can do anything to me! I am a huge cuddle bug and love to give kisses! Once I see you as family I will protect you with my life. I am obviously more comfortable with women at first meeting but I warm up to men if given time to trust on my terms! My foster mom's boyfriend came to visit for a few months and we became the best of friends! We used to play chase in the back yard which was so fun! I adore children but would prefer to go to a home with no kids or with older children who are respectful and can't be knocked over easily! If you are looking for a sweet and protective couch potato I may be your girl!

I am dog and cat friendly and enjoys the company of others furry friends. I would be fine - maybe even prefer - being the only pet because that would mean more attention for ME and I LUV attention! I love my foster mom's 8-year-old niece and 10-year-old nephew but because I have terrible depth perception and am a little spatially challenged that it is best to take things slow and teach me boundaries with children. I walk great on leash and because I have some arthritis I prefer to go on short walks. I love to get belly rubs and sometimes can be demanding. I will need someone who is okay with providing me with structure and stability to teach me how to be a house dog. I have come so far but sometimes I digress when I get excited!

I would be a great fit for a single woman looking for a loyal companion and protector or for a couple with lots of patience. I love to chew toys and to cuddle with my person. I can be off leash around my home since I don't want to go anywhere without my people.

I was heartworm positive when FCHS rescued me but was lucky enough to go on a nice long road trip to Georgia to be treated thanks to a great grant! I have overcome various other health issues and I am so happy to be able to report that I now have a clean bill of health (other than mild arthritis)!

I am spayed, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting me please e-mail fchslauraelizabeth@gmail.com or fill out an application at https://fchsnc.formstack.com/forms/dogadoptionform_

My adoption fee is $150!

About Paws For Life NC A FCHS Program

About Our Rescue Group...

FCHS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization comprised entirely of volunteers from Franklin County and throughout the state and country. It was formed in 2002 to help solve the problem of unwanted dogs and cats in this region. Its long-term goal is to build an animal shelter where area pets can find safe refuge until they can be adopted to permanent homes. Its immediate goals are to develop a strong foster program to remove adoptable animals from the Franklin County Animal Control facility and to decrease the number of unwanted dogs and cats in Franklin/North Wake counties through spay/neuter public education programs

Our Adoption Process...

1.After you find A Dog or Cat, review the description of the foster you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular foster. The picture of the foster does not tell the whole story.

2.Complete the adoption application. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the foster you have chosen is a good match for your home. www.fchsnc.org has the applications. This is step one.

3.Once the application is submitted you will usually receive an email letting you know if the foster would be a good match for you and making arrangements for you to meet the dog at one of our adoption events. Sometimes a foster is best shown at the foster home due to his or her personality. We will let you know where the foster home is and arrange a time that works both for you and the foster home.We do require that everyone who will live with the foster to come and meet them. There is a chance we may tell you that the foster you are interested in is not a good match and may suggest another foster.

4.If, after meeting the foster you decide you would like to adopt him or her, a home visit will be scheduled. Someone from the Franklin County Humane Society will call and do the visit. The foster does not come on the home visit. Home visits are required before any foster leaves our program.

5.If more than one person applies and meets the same foster, all things being equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6.Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement. Please read the agreement carefully to make sure that you understand what you will be agreeing to.

7.An adoption fee of $250 for dogs under 6 months $225 for 6 months and older and $95 for cats, Senior Cats $50. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the fosters while in foster care. All FCHS fosters are altered, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. We are all volunteers and as such receive no monetary compensation for our work with the fosters. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the fosters.

8.Congratulations! You are on your way to having you new furry companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your foster at any time.
