Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA is a small private non-profit humane society dedicated to ensuring the protection of animals through education and service. Since 1967, Stray Haven has served Tioga County, NY and neighboring communities, providing shelter and care for homeless animals. Today we continue to offer many services with the generous support of the public, including pet adoptions, spay/neuter programs, dog obedience classes, pet therapy, cruelty investigations, humane education, children’s outreach programs and rewarding volunteer opportunities.
Local events are posted on our website and Facebook page!
Our Adoption Process...
Stray Haven requires an in-person visit with our adoptable pets and completion of the adoption application. Our standard adoption donation is $155 for dogs, and $75 for cats. All adoption packages and specials include up-to-date vaccinations, spay/neuter at our clinic and microchip for dogs.

NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter!
Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
