Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, December 3rd from 1-4pm and Sunday, December 4th from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, December 3rd from 1-4pm and Sunday, December 4th from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Coffee is a 1 1/2 year old Affenpinscher-Shih Tzu who came into our rescue in August as a very pregnant Mom to be. She had 5 beautiful puppies who have all gone onto their new homes and now it's her turn. Coffee now weighs 13.8lbs. Coffee gets along with everyone. She currently lives with big and little dogs. She has lived in a foster with other little dogs. She can go to the dog park or doggy day camp. She is a jewel when it comes to getting along with others. Coffee would be an excellent option to go to work with Mom or Dad as she went to work with her foster mom for several weeks.
Coffee is wonderful with all people. She was a huge hit with her foster mom's students. They adored her. She is a lover girl and she is a total lap dog. If you're working on the computer she is happy to sit below you at your feet. If you're reading a great book at night, she'll hang out on the couch next to you. Coffee is not a big barker and she's one who loves to be with her people but doesn't demand it. She will be a little velcro type of dog, following her person from room to room but she won't be underfoot. She'll just hang out and like to see where her person is going and what he/she is doing...
Coffee learned the doggy door immediately. She has had one in both of her foster homes. With a doggy door she is completely housetrained which we almost never say. We don't know how she would do without one as we haven't had her in a foster home without a doggy door. Coffee likes to play with toys. She has a toy chest at her current foster home. But she's rather have a bully stick if you don't mind! Coffee rides in the car like a champ. She is wonderful sitting on the seat next to her person as he/she drives. She is an option to live in an apartment or condo setting as she's a quiet dog.
Coffee is potentially an option for a home that is a first time dog owner that demonstrates that they are prepared and have done the research for owning a dog prior to applying. We will consider kids who are over the age of 7.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
