Sophia's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Sophia has been waiting since June 2013 for a home!  She arrived at our shelter with her newborn kittens after they had been dropped off in someone's driveway.

Sophia is around 4 years old, Domestic Short Hair mix with a soft and sleet gray tiger striped coat.  She is s super sweet gal who LOVES to burrow in her blankets and snuggle!

She has been around other kitties here at the shelter and prefers to just keep to herself and spend her time with you.  :)

Please give Sophia a chance to know what a loving home is!

Please feel free to stop by and visit in person!  Our Adoptable Pet Visitation Hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-3pm and Saturday 8am-12pm.  Please contact our office if you are unable to visit during these hours and we will do our very best to accommodate your schedule!  In addition to interested adopters, we are always looking for motivated volunteers and loving foster homes!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sophia, a Detroit Lakes Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Detroit Lakes, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Detroit Lakes.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Detroit Lakes already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Detroit Lakes breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Detroit Lakes paves the way for another one to be saved.
