Mason Dixie is a 7y 15lb Maine Coon who up til now lived with his his previous owner. He is quite the conversationalist via Very loud purring! He is friendly around strangers, but also a little shy. He might not walk up to them and will stay close tat first, but will allow petting and holding by strangers. During intake, Mason purred when his carrier was opened. He laid down in front of the counselor and began purring. He purred very, very loudly when pet. He allowed for collaring and being picked up. Mason has spent time with children aged 8-18. He was reported to be friendly and gentle with them, and allows them to handle him roughly. At most, it was reported, he will run away from children if they are being too rough. Mason has never lived with another animal.
Mason was reported to be litter box trained with no accidents. He allows brushing and baths- in fact, previous owner reports, Mason loves water. He likes to stick his head under running faucets and play with water. He enjoys being picked up and held. He was reported to have a low to medium activity level. He loves to follow his owners around and sleep in bed with them. He is loves wet food. Mason is used to an uncovered litter box, and uses corn pine and cedar clumping litter (previous owner stated that his fancy cat needed fancy litter).
Please note: kittens must be adopted in pairs or to households with age appropriate cat(s) to ensure proper socialization and companionship. NO exceptions! If you would prefer a solo cat, we would be happy to recommend those cats who would do best as solo cats.
