Facts about Bruno

  • Breed: American Bulldog/Blue Heeler Mix
  • Color: White - With Gray Or Silver
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
**Bruno is currently being fostered in Houston. Unfortunately, meeting him prior to his adoption will not be possible. Bruno's adoption donation is $500USD, which includes his flight, a new kennel, and he is fully vetted and healthy. Because the flights are so expensive, the adoption donation is non-negotiable.**

Bruno came into our lives as so many of our loves do, alone and dejected at a high kill shelter. Nothing wrong with him, other than being a product of a city with an overwhelming pet crisis. We saw him and once he perked his ears up, it was all over, we knew we had to add him to our rescue family!

Bruno is a roughly 8-month old American Bulldog mix. He is currently around 45 pounds and we think he will be a bigger boy, likely in the mid 60 pound range when he is fully grown. He is not tall, but he solid! He would be best suited for an active family that can give him plenty of exerercise and would likely be best placed in a home with a yard. Because many apartments and condos have breed restrictions, it is important to check with any property manager about being able to own his breed mix prior to applying.

Bruno has done a great job of acclimating into his foster home, including working hard on his kennel and house training. He is also working hard on his leash manners, but is still a young, energetic guy who will require some patience as he continues to develop into an amazing adult companion. Bruno LOVES the company of other dogs and currently lives with dogs ranging from an 8 pound Chi to a 80 pound American Bully buddy. He loves to run and play with other dogs and will make a great buddy to another dog with a proper introduction.

Bruno has met and done great around children who are gentle and loving to animals. He would likely fare better in a home with older children, as he may inadvertanly bowl over a smaller kiddo, he would never hurt one on purpose, but he is a bit clumsy still. He would be a great buddy for some active kids to grow up with!

Bruno should be adopted by a family who understands that he will take time and patience as he acclimates into his new life. He may have accidents, chew on things he is not supposed to, and bark in his kennel. It can take dogs a few weeks to properly acclimate to their new lives, so he is seeking a family that can give him this time and work with him on becoming an even more awesome dog than he already is. Bruno should be adopted by a family who plans to keep him indoors as part of a family - we do not adopt dogs into situations in which they will be left outside for extended periods of time unattended (for example, the entire work day).

Bruno is fully vetted (neutered, shots, microchip, heartworm tested - negative) and has no known health or allergy issues.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done via our website at www.reggiesfriends.org - please hover over the adoptables tab and the application will appear.

Our Adoption Process...

All Reggie's Friends dogs are located in Houston TX and all of our adoptions are out-of-state. This means that the dogs cannot be met prior to adoption. While unconventional, it is the best way we have figured out how to save dogs suffering in Houston. We have finalized over 300 out-of-state adoptions in the past two years.

The first step in our adoption process is to complete an application on our website www.reggiesfriends.org - hovering over the Adoptables tab will bring up the application link. Following the application, we will conduct a reference and vet check and then set a time for a video chat via Facetime or Skype in order for potential adopters to "meet" the dog and us. We have found great success in conducting our adoptions in this manner and look forward to much success in the future!
