Hi there! My name is Justice and I am a 1 year old pit bull mix looking for a forever home! I thought I had that home once, but when I turned up as a stray, no one came looking for me. To make matters even worse, I had an old break in my leg that healed improperly! Don't worry though, the nice people here at SSHS got me all fixed up and I am adjusting to life as a tri-pod just fine. I do need to be the only dog in the home, as I don't really enjoy the company of others. If you think that having three legs stops me from being a hyper, active young dog, think again! I am super playful and love running around! I can be very jumpy, so I might do best with dog-savvy kids. I still need some work on my puppy-like tendencies.

If I sound like the dog for you, come in and meet me today! You won't be sorry!

About South Suburban Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For forty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We have grown from a small group of volunteers to an organization made up of volunteers and paid employees that were responsible for almost 4,400 animals in 2013. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate two resale shops located in Steger, Illinois and Chicago Heights, Illinois that promote our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We also have adoptable cats at THREE PetSmart locations! PetSmart Tinley Park, PetSmart Orland Hills, and Petsmart Schererville, IN are both key adoption partners where many of our adoptable kittens and cats are housed until they find their forever homes.
