Meet Valerie, a beautiful, strong, independent gal with some firm views of her own. She enjoys play time, and especially likes wand toys with feathers to chase around. This kind of routine exercise is a good way to bond with her and will also be especially beneficial as she is presently a bit overweight.

We think Valerie will do best in a calm, adults-only household with owners who have had some experience with cats and who understand their body language. Valerie is not a lap snuggler, but likes to be near by. She very much enjoys having company around her and has been known to wait at the front door for her people to come home. Her front paws are declawed, but her body language will let you know when her tolerance for handling has exceeded its limit.

Because of her thick, rich, muted-tortie coat, she will need regular grooming and has received a lion cut twice a year with her previous guardian. In fact, according to her previous guardian--Valerie is a very happy camper when she has a good haircut. She seems to like the zoom groomer rather than a metal comb. Valerie will need to be an indoor cat in order to keep her safe from predators and to keep her white nose safe from sun damage.

Initially you will want to organize a small, secure space for her and include a bed, litter box, food and water, scratching post, and, of course, some cat toys! Visit her regularly and engage her in wand play and soft, comforting conversation. Soon she'll be ready to explore the rest of the house.

Valerie is a lovely, confident cat who will adorn your home and steal your heart!
