Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sammy is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. At 10 months old and 19 lbs (anticipated to weigh about 21 lbs when full-grown) Sammy is every bit the puppy...fun and active....but at the same time he is a very well-behaved pup who was picked from a shelter population of about 400 dogs for his great temperament. Attached to his kennel card was the following from shelter personnel: You will absolutely fall in love Sammy. He's as sweet as can be, loves to be petted and adores all attention. This small pup will make you happy in so many ways. He's a ton of fun and loves people! He's nice and calm and loves getting treats. This handsome boy prefers to do his business outside. He would be a holiday gift to any family..loves children!
At this early point in Sammy's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine (and most likely cats as well). We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Sammy to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Sammy to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Right now, Sammy is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around.
We think Sammy would do great with dog-crazy kids who would love a dog with a wonderful spirit to be their best friend. These kids would also have to be very gentle and loving to nurture Sammy's great temperament and love of people. We'd also like an active family who will include Sammy in their activities. He is so portable that he can easily be a constant companion - Sammy would love nothing more than long walks or hikes, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace..he would be the hit of the office!. Sammy is so young that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed.
Sammy's new family has to have the motivation and energy for a young pup...he requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to continue his very positive attitude about the world. We feel that Sammy is a very special guy and is a gift to any family. Anyone who meets him immediately becomes aware of his warmth and sweet/calm ways.
Sammy has a walk that resembles a jig..upon further investigation by a vet, we found that in his puppy days he broke his pelvis (no doubt hit by a car). We were assured that this break has since healed and Sammy has no pain and doesn't require any medical intervention. This evaluation seems true when you watch Sammy play, run and have so much fun.
Sammy is being fostered in a great Denver home and we're currently searching for a great match for this awesome guy.
