Perdie is a gorgeous 4-year-old heeler mix who came in to the local shelter as a stray. As a lively girl who needs an outlet for her energy, she didn’t do so well at the shelter. Perdie learns very quickly, enjoys training, and is motivated by treats, squeaky toys, and approval from her humans. She has excellent manners in public — she doesn’t bark at other dogs or people at all — even in the close quarters at the pet store, which is great because she really wants to come with you on your adventures! In fact, she absolutely loves to spend her time as part of the family and is as sweet as can be.
Perdie has been with her second foster for about 6 weeks now and her foster has learned it takes a lot of treats, time and patience to gain her trust and get her to work with you. But once she does, she’ll show you how smart she is. Best of all, she’s a total love bug to anyone she’s around and loves to snuggle and give kisses. She knows sit, down, stay, place and is learning leash manners. She has some separation anxiety (who wouldn’t after having lived on the street!), which she and the foster are working on together.
While Perdie adores everyone, she wouldn’t want to overwhelm any very young children with her energetic zest for life so kids 7 years and older are recommended. Perdie can be a little picky about which dogs she shares a home with so introductions are a must, and she might do best with a male dog about her size. Of course if you don’t have any other dogs, Perdie is definitely ok with soaking up all your love and attention, too.
