Name:  Sally   Breed: black lab mix

Approximate Age:  1 year old

Approximate Weight:  40 lbs

Currently Living at:  DC area boarding -- Sally needs a forever home ASAP!!

Meet Sally!  She is around 1 year old and a female black lab mix.  Through no fault of her own,  Sally found herself stuck in a rural, overcrowded shelter with not much of a chance for life.  In spite of the tough time she's had, Sally is a friendly and loving girl, who is hoping you'll help her get out of the shelter and start a new, better life with someone who really loves her, and wants to add a loving family member to their lives!

Sally says...Hi there, everyone!  They call me Sally, and they say that I'm just the most beautiful, sweetest girl!!  Do you have room in your heart and home for a pup like me?  I have a beautiful, shiny black coat that's smooth and super-soft…great for everyone to pet me (hint hint). :-)  I weigh about 40 pounds (not too big), which makes me a perfect size for an apartment, house or condo!!  They say I am probably some sort of black lab mix…all I know is that I'm a happy pup and I love to play, get lots of pets, and give lots of doggie kisses!

Read below for more info on Sally, and email ASAP if you are interested in her!

Sally says...I don't know why, but somehow I ended up in this scary shelter.  It's a pretty cold and scary place.  I don't get to go outside, it gets really really loud when new dogs come in (which happens all the time), and no one comes to visit me.  So I get more and more scared here.  I really hope I can get out of here really soon!

Don't you think I would look really cute as your new Facebook cover photo, romping around in the sunshine and rolling in the autumn leaves?  And how I'd love to snuggle up by you while we relax inside after a day of fun adventures.  I just really want to run, play, then snuggle, nap and dream of all the adventures we'll have together.  I would just LOVE trips to the dog park and hikes in the woods -- I love to discover new things!

Sweet Sally makes friends with everyone she meets.  At around 1 year old, she is past the baby puppy phase (no all-night crying or bathroom breaks every 2 hours!) but like any dog, still needs lots of exercise to stay happy and healthy.

Sally's new person or family will need to make sure she gets lots of socialization and playtime with other dogs and people to keep up the good social skills she has already!  And like all dogs we adopt out, she'll need to go to obedience classes to build a strong bond with his people, and help her become a well behaved companion or family member.  Sally seems to like all the people she meets, and can't wait to wiggle her way into your heart and home.

Like most young dogs, Sally might need a refresher on her house training when she gets to a new home.  She will also need to go to obedience school so she can continue to be a well-socialized dog!

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgery.  If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and e-mail it to at Sheila at ASAP!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
