My name is Petey, and today was full of first for me. Today was my first hug from a human. Today was my first kiss from one too. Today was the first time I felt like people were nice and could love me again. Today I got my first toy. Today I met a friend from home. Today I decided that even though I miss my dad that I'd really like a new home. Today I decided I want a family of my own….
A few weeks ago my world was turned upside down. My daddy got sick. He left home and never came back. Instead strangers came to our home. They looked very sad, and said they didn't know it had gotten this bad and that we didn't deserve to live like this. They loaded us up and took us to a place called a shelter. I was a little worried at first, but the people here were really nice like dad. They fed us, and even let me visit my friends from home. After a day of first I don't want Monday to be my last day.
