Harper - Chocolate female X, 4.5 years old, 75 lbs.

What is sweet as chocolate with a wiggly tail, cold wet nose, and huge heart full of love? Give up yet?? It’s me, Harper!!!

I am an adorable 4-year old Chocolate Labrador mix with the sweetest temperament you can imagine! My heart is full of love and hope. You see, something very sad happened to me not too long ago… my family moved and left me behind! I waited for them to come back just like a loyal Labbie should, but they never came…as the days and nights passed I got sadder and began to lose hope, but then my prayers were answered and the Defenders of Dogs, the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, picked me up and took me to this amazing place called a foster home. Now I live in my foster home, sleep on a cushy bed, play with my canine foster siblings, eat regular meals, and get all of the love and cuddles a girl could dream of - sometimes I can’t even believe that this is real – it is almost too good to be true! I was so close to giving up – I will never be able to thank my foster family enough for saving me, but I sure do try by giving them all the love in my heart!

I am a sweet natured girl who is very affectionate. I absolutely love to be cuddled and my favorite place is by your side. I know a few basic commands, and would love to go to doggie school with you to learn more! I am a polite girl, and always take treats and food with a gentle touch. I have excellent house manners and go to the door to let my people know when nature is calling. I sleep on a doggie bed all night in my foster family’s bedroom. I enjoy playing with other dogs and do ok around my foster families dog-savvy cat, and I wouldn't even mind being an only doggie where I can soak up all of the love! I have excellent leash and car manners and love to accompany my people out and about on adventures. Let’s go on a hike, play at the park, eat at an outdoor café – as long as we are together, I am one happy girl!

Harper is a total cutie pie with a loyal and loving heart, ready to devote herself to her new family.  She is extremely affectionate and absolutely loves people. While she does enjoy the company of other dogs, she would be just fine as an only dog as she is very people focused.  She is absolutely a dream to walk as she stays right by your side, does not pull, and ignores distractions along the way.  Harper is a great age – past the crazy puppy stage, but still energetic and ready for adventure. Her new family will be gaining a loyal and fun-loving companion, ready to share the ups and downs of life together! Do you need some sweet and fun Labrador love in your life? Apply at www.labrescuefresno.org today to see if Harper is the girl for you!
