Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Clarence and I am a 3 year old male Shih Tzu who came to the wonderful folks at NBS Animal Rescue when I was found as a stray wandering the streets cold, scared, and severely matted. I was a really lucky little fella who is loving my life in my foster home while I look for my fur-ever family.

My foster mom says that I am a sweet fella who is shy and nervous in new situations and around new people at first. Don't worry though - with a few soft words, and a tasty treat or two I quickly warm up and snuggle in your lap for gentle pets and ear scratches. I am pretty low key at first, but when I get comfortable in my environment I like to play with other mellow friendly dogs who are good friendly players. I don't like dogs who are super hyper, or dominant players - they scare me and I try to hide and get away. My foster sister right now is the perfect play mate for me - when we want to play we toss toys around together, do a little lite chasing/mouthing of each other, and then 5 minutes later - we're both snuggling in the same dog bed together relaxing.

I would love a home with a family who was home often to snuggle and play with me. Because I am scared of loud noises and quick movements I would do best in a home with kids who were 12+ years of age. I'm still getting the hang of this potty outside business so I need a patient family who will take me outside often, praise me when I do the right thing, and not be mad at me when I have accidents. I'm a sensitive fella and get really scared and nervous when people raise their voices so I need a family who is understanding and kind.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods and patient and understanding.
-Children must be 12 yrs or older
- 100% fenced in yard or detailed description of plan for multiple daily walks listed on application.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!

About NBS Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

N.B.S Animal Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue that focuses 100% of our energy, time, money, and effort on providing the best care, training, and home environment for the dogs in our care as we work diligently towards finding loving adoptive homes for them.

We pride ourselves on being completely up front with our supporters, post our financial records on a monthly basis for our donors to see exactly what their generous donations are being used for, promptly return phone calls and e-mails, encourage and nurture a positive relationship with our volunteers, support other animal rescues efforts, and refuse to allow the drama often associated with animal rescue to deter our efforts.

While we recognize that we can't do everything, we know we can do something to help animals in need. N.B.S. Animal Rescue is Not Breed Specific and is founded in honor of several rescue dogs who left lasting paw prints on our hearts.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Want to meet one of our adorable puppies or dogs before our next adoption event? We ask that you complete an adoption application and are pre-approved as an adoptive home before we can set up a meet and greet at the dogs foster home.

Be on the look out for our upcoming adoption events and fundraisers! These are great opportunities for you to meet our available dogs and puppies who are looking for great homes!

Our Adoption Process...

Think you've found your new best friend, the love of your life, or a fur-baby to love forever on our rescue's Adopt-A-Pet site???

THAT'S GREAT!!! We're so happy you've fallen in love with one of our very deserving dogs! Let us help you get the ball rolling!

Here's what our adoption process consists of:

1.) We ask that you visit our website at www.nbsanimalrescue.com to fill out an online adoption application. In the application we will ask that you tell us a little bit about yourself, your home, your current and past pets, how you will help your new pet become comfortable in their new home, and we will ask for a veterinarians contact name and number as well as three personal references that we can speak to.

2.) Once we receive your application one of our dedicated adoption specialists will review your application carefully, contact your veterinarian and all three personal references and speak to you on the phone to clear up any questions that may arise during the process.

3.) Once your application has been approved, our adoption coordinator will contact you with the good news! At this time we will set up a meet and greet for your family and the dog you would like to adopt.

4.) If at the meet and greet your entire family loves the dog, feels like they are a good match for your family and our adoption coordinator feels as though your home will provide the dog with the best possible care, an Adoption Agreement is signed, an adoption fee paid, and information about the dog's past veterinary care, feeding schedule, etc is shared.

5.) Our adoption fee is $250.00 for all dogs and puppies. All animals have been seen by a licensed veterinarian and given a comprehensive wellness exam, are current on all age appropriate vaccines including DHPP, Rabies, and Bordatella, and have received proper internal and external parasite control as well as have been spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
