Luna is a lovable, young gal that will bring only sunshine to your day. She is always excited to see you when taking her for a walk. Luna is strong and can pull on the leash as she zigzags in front of you eager to move ahead. When you call her name, she will pause a moment looking back at you as if to say, "Follow me!" As a young dog, her new family will benefit from obedience classes to teach her the rules of her new home. Luna seems eager to please and should make a fine student. Luna has been a hit with several of the other dogs here at the shelter, and she loves playtime! Afterwards, she will sit quietly next to you and quickly learns to trust as she lays down for a belly rub. Careful...next time you look into her eyes, you may fall under her spell.

About Atlanta Humane Society - Alpharetta

About Our Shelter...

Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit (IRS Tax ID# 58-0685900) and the oldest private charitable organization in Atlanta, founded in 1873 following a visit to the city by Robert E. Lee. The animal charity was originally chartered to protect women, children, and animals and remained a child protection and animal welfare society for 79 years. AHS, now a widely recognized pet adoption center, clinic, and educational program provider, was originally located on Marietta Street and moved to its location at 981 Howell Mill Road in the 1930s. Atlanta Humane Society's Mansell Road Adoption Facility was opened in December of 2011 in Alpharetta.

It is our mission to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty and exploitation of animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively and humanely protected by an aware and caring society.

Atlanta Humane Society places approximately 8,000 animals into forever homes each year. AHS is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for the animals once they are in our care. We only humanely euthanize those animals suffering from significant medical issues or that pose behavior concerns. We are proud to be a part of the solution to ending pet homelessness and overpopulation in the Southeast United States.
