Facts about Chico

  • Breed: Shih Tzu
  • Color: White - With Tan, Yellow Or Fawn
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
Chico is a 7 yr old male Shih Tzu and weighs 11 lbs. He came from a home where he was neglected because the owner decided he didn't want to care for him anymore. No one seem to have time for this little guy and he was just pretty much tethered outside when the weather was nice and kind of forgotten. When he came into rescue he was in dire need of a groom and as you can tell he was a diamond in the rough. His before and after pictures show that. Chico was not trusting at first but within a couple of days he became very trusting and is very affectionate. He gets along with other dogs, seems indifferent towards cats. but because we don't really know his history with children we won't place Chico with kids.
He needs support with his house training but has improved the short time that he's been in foster care.
His true personality has not yet been revealed but he has begun to cuddle and loves when you call his name. Chico loves attention and a warm lap.
Chico is being fostered in Scarborough.
Chico was neutered and recently had his broken dew claws removed. He is up to date on his vaccines and ready for his new home.

Adoption fee is $350
To apply for Chico go to www.happytailsrescue.ca/adoption-form to submit an application.

**applicants must be in a 2 hr driving range from Toronto/Niagara area as we do home visits ourselves with our dogs.

About Happy Tails Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Happy Tails Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization. When we accept a dog into our rescue, it immediately becomes part of a foster family where it is loved and nurtured back to a stable physical and/or mental state and only then will it be adopted to a fully screened, loving family or individual.
Happy Tails is a small rescue where we get to know and love our dogs individually. Foster homes are always much needed as it's so sad to have to turn down a dog in need due to not having a space for them :(

Our Adoption Process...

We get inquiries about dogs posted on our website at www.happytailsrescue.ca. The adoption fees are posted on the individual dog's bio. If the initial inquiry sounds like a possible fit or the family sounds like they might offer a very good home for a specific dog or one as yet to be determined, we send out an application form. The completed application is reviewed to get a sense of whether the desires and life style of the family look like a good match for the dog in question. If they do seem to be a good match at that point, we follow up with a phone conversation and gather more information so that we and share information about the dog in more detail and find out what expectations the adopter may have for the dog that they want to adopt. If it still looks like a match, we check references and set up a home visit where the family meets the dog. If the chemistry is good we arrange to place the dog in the home for a two week trial period . If after the two weeks the dog and the family have connected and both sides feel that the dog is the right one for them , then the adoption is finalized and the adoption fee cheque is cashed so that we have funds to help the next dog in need.
