Sophie is a 10 1/2 year old, 19 pound Terrier Mix. Don't let Sophie's age fool you! This girl is sweet, smart, and ready for adventures and fun. She loves to go for walks and play in the back yard, but she'll snuggle with her person and curl up at your feet at the end of the day. She knows a few commands and is responsive to her people. Sophie is a talker, so she wouldn't make a good apartment dog. Regular grooming would be necessary to keep her beautiful salt and pepper hair under control. Her dream home would not include small children who might pull her tail or ears, but she would love to have a doggy sibling to share adventures with. She can play a little rough at times, so she needs a tolerant dog to teach her appropriate play. Sophie is good with cats, chickens, goats, and birds. She is house trained but appreciates a bathroom break in the middle of the day. Sophie is waiting for her special family who will love her forever! If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at www.caws.org.

About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
