  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Sometimes the little miracles come to us when they are 6 years old.
They are named Hokie.
They have lived on a chain outside since they were a puppy…And they are marvleous.
Life outdoors has been hard on Hokie. You can see it in his eyes, and the thick layers of skin that grew above his collar for so long.
And at the end of a long day of being thankful, Hokie's family made the best decision for him. They wanted him to have a loving indoor home, and contacted us. They are good people. And they love Hokie.
Welcome Hokie. It's never too late to be thankful again. When adopting Hokie you must understand that he is still a puppy in a adult body. He is learning all things in life and does it with excitement and enthusiasm.
$175.00 adoption donation ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough) , microchipped and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites if needed. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as surgeries and dentals. About Augusta Dog Adoptions

About Our Rescue Group...

Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3 charity. We are an all volunteer organization, has no paid staff, or physical shelter. We rely on the generosity of foster homes. Since 2007, we have saved over 1,000 dogs in the Shenandoah Valley, neighboring counties, and from other high kill pounds throughout Virginia and neighboring states.

Please visit our primary website at www.augustadogadoptions.org

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes. You can meet most of our adoptable dogs at Petsmart in Waynesboro almost every Saturday from 10am-2pm. You may also apply on our website www.augustadogadoptions.org.

Our Adoption Process...

All dogs are spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption. Several have received additional medical care as well. The standard adoption donation is $175.00. However, the donation can easily be adjusted for seniors and dogs with special needs. It may also be slightly higher for young, purebred dogs. The adoption donation helps us provide care for the foster dogs.

We ask potential adopters to fill out a short application at www.augustadogadoptions.org. If a match is made, a time to meet and adopt is then set up, usually on the following Saturday.

All dogs are adopted out as family members. They are not to kept exclusively outdoors. They must be allowed inside of the household.
