Calvin's Story...
Calvin is a sweet boy that is shy at 1st but once he gets to know new people and becomes more comfortable in a new environment he comes out of his shell. Being a small dog in a shelter full of large excitable young dogs can be stressful but he has done a great job to adapt to his temporary home and has made many cuddle companions. He enjoys being held and having the chance to relax in a quieter room or outside with people that he loves and trusts. Calvin would make a wonderful companion for a calm, small household where he can get lots of love and attention in a home that he can call his own. If you are interested in adopting Calvin, please fill out an application today!

P.S. He has had dental work done after being rescued and has only been left with 1 molar. He will need to remain on soft or wet food for the rest of his life.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Calvin, a St. Louis Chihuahua/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Chihuahua/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
