Boone is a happy, handsome purebred Australian Cattle Dog who is very typical of the breed -- affectionate, smart and eager to please, he is also athletic, devoted, vigilant and curious. From working dog stock, he's 3.5 years old, 53 lbs., stump-tailed, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and currently undergoing treatment for heartworms but is low positive with no symptoms. He came to our rescue after being penned up outside alone for a year because he grabbed a horse's tail. He's quickly adjusted to life inside though and is sweet and obedient.  Boone gets along with most dogs but can be picky so care should be taken with canine introductions. He needs an experienced cattle dog person who is firm but kind. He loves to run and explore but also has an off switch and can be left uncrated in the house without destroying things. Boone has begun to show interest in toys and fetching, loves to cuddle with you on the couch and sleeps next to the bed at night. He's crate-trained, house-trained (uses a doggy door), walks well on a leash and rides great in the car. He hasn't been tested with cats or small children but has exhibited herding instincts like most ACDs. Boone is easily corrected though, with no aggression (food, toy or otherwise) towards people or his packmates. He'll make a wonderful companion and farmhand for someone who understands the breed. He would do OK as an only dog if he could accompany his person throughout the day, otherwise would do best with a calm canine companion or two. Boone is currently fostered in the Jacksonville area but transport can be arranged. Adoption fee is $250.

About Ewenity Farm Herding Dog Haven

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small rescue organization located in Southwest Florida. Being small helps us give more one on one attention to individual dogs and their needs. Rescued dogs are kept in our homes and treated as our own. Herding dogs are unique. They are a highly intelligent and require much of the owner’s attention. The dogs are evaluated, when they come into the rescue, for any temperament and health issues. Then they are given basic obedience, socialization and rehabilitation as it is necessary.

It is our sole purpose to find forever homes for these loving, wonderful dogs that have been discarded through no fault of their own. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and on flea and heartworm preventative.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Since all rescue dogs live in our homes with us or in foster homes, you will need to travel to meet any dog you might want to adopt.

You will need to contact Ewenity Farms HDH to make arrangements to meet the rescue dog.

Our Adoption Process...

We require potential adopters to fill out an Adoption Application. When that is approved we can arrange for the prospective adopter to meet the dog they are interested in. We do require an adoption contract to be signed at time of adoption. We conduct home visits. There is an adoption fee that is usually around $250 per dog to cover any expenses we have incurred. We do have dogs located at qualified fosters throughout the state and also out of state.
