Izzie's Story...
Izzie is a 5 month old, 20lb, Labrador/Basset hound mix. She is the cutest little shortie with the softest, floppiest ears!

Izzie was brought to an overcrowded shelter because she was given to her family as a present. Even though they loved her and tried to keep her, they were just not ready for the responsibility of a dog and felt it was thrown on them. Izzie was a black dog in an overcrowded shelter, which is the worst combination. For some reason, black dogs spend the longest in shelters, we believe it has something to do with how hard it is to photograph black dogs.

Well, we knew we could find Izzie a wonderful forever home here in CO. She is such a special girl, and has the cutest look! Here is what Izzie's foster has to say about her:

" Izzie is super sweet she loves her attention. We have learned that she does sleep all night in her crate as long as she can see us or can see our big doberman Chika. Even though her favorite is sleeping in my 7yr old son bed.
She is a master of structure by 7:30am she now understands that it's time to go outside and take care of business. She gets super excited and loves to play with my other dog. She is such a friendly girl. It's so clear that she is a basset/lab mix because she has the easy going, super sweet, happy personality. She loves to snuggle up with my son or my other dog. She will prance around the house with the toys in her mouth asking us to play with her. She is just such a great dog there is really no fault. If we didn't already have a dog we would absolutely keep her, she is just too easy to fall in love with! She has the cutest stubby legs and my son loves to play with and pet her ears because they are so floppy and soft. Izzie would be so great in a family with another dog or kids to grow up with. She would also be great for a younger couple, or older retired couple. Pretty much any family would be perfect for Izzie as long as she gets lots of love since she is so easy going!"

It is very clear that Izzie has had wonderful socialization so far in your short life time. Since she is still a young puppy, it would be great to keep the socialization going and to get her into puppy classes. She is 99% potty trained as long as her new adopters stay on top of it.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Izzie, a Boulder Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound for sale in Boulder, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound puppy from a breeder in Boulder.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boulder already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boulder breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boulder paves the way for another one to be saved.
