Facts about Herschel

  • Breed: Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
**Herschel is currently being fostered in Houston. Unfortunately, meeting him prior to his adoption will not be possible. His adoption donation is $500USD, which includes his flight, a new kennel, and he is fully vetted and healthy. Because the flights are so expensive, the adoption donation is non-negotiable.**

Herschel is a great, adventurous, little man who would make the perfect addition to any family structure. He is a lover of all things - human and animal - and we cannot imagine a dog who would make any family's life any happier on a daily basis.

Herschel came to us as a stray from a local high euthanasia shelter. One look at his face on the shelter's website and his foster mom could not get to that shelter fast enough to pick him up! He has made a great member of her foster pack and we are so excited to get him on the road to his very own forever life.

Herschel is about three years old and around 12 pounds. He is a Chi / Dachshund mix. He is fully grown and will stay small and spry!

Herschel LOVES to run and play and has a good amount of stamina for a small dog. He would make a great partner for fetch and nice long strolls. He is a med-high energy boy, so we think he would be best suited for an active family that can help him properly expel all of his happiness!

Herschel would be great as an addition to a family that already has a dog, but would also do great as a bachelor dog. He also currently lives with cats with no issues. His personality and demeanor lead us to believe he would also be a great dog for a family with kids who are respectful of animals.

Herschel should be adopted by a family who understands the situation that he came to us from and is committed to giving him the time and patience he needs to become an amazing dog. It can take dogs a few weeks to properly acclimate to their new lives, so he is seeking a family that can give him this time and work with him on becoming an even more awesome dog than he already is.

Herschel is fully vetted (neutered, shots, microchip) and has no known health or allergy issues.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done via our website at - please hover over the adoptables tab and the application will appear.

About Reggie's Friends- Seattle

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families. We live and love by our motto #streetlife2sweetlife!

Our Adoption Process...

90% of our adoptions are out-of-state adoptions, meaning meeting the pet prior to adoption is unfortunately not always a possibility. While a bit unconventional, we have adopted over 300 animals to amazing families in the past two years.

The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application. You can access our adoption application through our website at www.reggiesfriends.or. If you hover over the "Adoptables" tab, the application will appear.

Following the application, potential adopters are connected with the animal's foster family for a phone call, or more often, a video chat so that adopters can "meet" the animal and us!

The adoption fee for all dogs is $500, which helps to cover the cost of the flight, a new travel kennel, and their vet care expenses (vetting is completed prior to adoption). Animals will not be flown to their new families until the adoption contract and adoption fee is paid (in full).
