Barney is a big, very handsome, 5 year old Medium to Long Haired White with Brown tabby markings neutered male. He is friendly very sweet and loves pets and attention. He can also be very relaxed and laid back. He was rescued from being put down at another shelter, so we don't have much background on him, but his foster said he was a sweet, quiet cat who did not care for her well-behaved 2 year old. For some reason, he is just afraid of children (possibly past bad experience before he was rescued). She also doesn't think he'd do well with dogs. He gets along great with his docile FIV+ roommates, esp. Fred who he came to us with, but they are not bonded. He is FIV+ which is the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is only contagious to other cats. It means his immune system is a little weaker than average, but most cats with FIV live long healthy lives if they are in a safe, indoor only, calm environment . They have been adopted with other FIV+ cats and many people have adopted FIV+ cats who have non-FIV cats without their non-FIV cats contracting it. Please discuss with your Veterinarian to help you decide. There is a vaccination for FIV that you can discuss with you Veterinarian as well. He does not care for young children, but might be O.K. with older, calm, cat-friendly children. Come meet this sweet & handsome boy.
