Meet Your Match Evaluation: Orange – Goofball- “I’m a fun-loving, happy-all-the-time, glass-is-half full kind of dog looking for someone who loves to laugh and play around. Must have a great sense of humor and some time to spend with me. I’m on a mission to please you.”

Hashtag is a beautiful blue American Pit Bull Terrier and is two years old. She is so sweet!. Hashtag spent some time at the home of one of our lead volunteers, and here is what Madison says about her:

Hashtag is settling in very well, and she gets along terrifically with my dog, Axle -  you can see them lounging together in a couple of the photos. They even share toys and a sleeping area! Hashtag and Axel eat near each other, and there have been no problems. She loves to go for walks and will bark at other dogs, but she is totally fine with them when properly introduced.

Because Hashtag wants to chase after squirrels, she needs to be on a leash or in a fenced yard when outside. Her prey drive is very high, so I recommend Hashtag be adopted into a home without small animals (that goes for smaller dogs, cats, ferrets, etc.) She's GREAT with pooches her size or larger though.  And this likely also means she should go to an adopter with no kids or older children who are sturdy on their feet and understand the importance of being sweet to a dog. Hashtag's energy would likely be too much for babies or toddlers because she is jumpy when excited, and she always needs to be supervised by an adult on walks. Hashtag could unintentionally and easily pull a child down if she saw something she wanted to chase.

She is not housebroken yet, but we are working on it, and Hashtag is quickly learning. She is a very sweet girl who is a fine house guest and is doing great in a happy home environment! Because she is doing so well with roomie, Axle, and enjoys having another dog in the house, I would LOVE to see her find a home with another dog around her size - preferably a well-established male that is larger than her. Not necessarily a dominant male, but a dog who is confident and well-rounded who can continue to teach her doggie manners. She has a lot of personality, and may be too sassy for another female dog, but a proper and well done introduction could change that. A second dog isn't a requirement for Hashtag - just a recommendation to help her be the best pup she can be!

She is a very good girl and is learning house manners quickly. She can sit and shake, and Hashtag will sit nicely before I feed her. She just has a lot of energy and needs some work. But with the right humans, she has a lot of potential to be a terrific dog. Someone who wants to teach a dog tricks or tasks would be great for her. She is smart, and just needs some direction and basic training.'

Hashtag is now back at the shelter and is doing great! She is such a sweet and fun dog! Hashtag loves spending time with our dedicated crew of volunteers of all ages. She has a wonderful time during daily walks and playtime. Hashtag is so happy as she races around, and especially enjoys the tennis balls. She found a stash under our agility equipment and brought each one out to play with! Hashtag also has a cute and unique move where she will bow to you and then bounce back. She adores being petted and is truly a unique and special dog! E-mail for more information or stop by Williamson County Animal Center for a meet and greet with precious Hashtag!
