Please contact Paula ( for more information about this pet.Big Manxie is a special kitty. Born to a feral mother in the Georgetown area, he was tragically orphaned and left on his own at only ~8 weeks after his lovely mommy and darling siblings were all lost to predators. Although on the outside he looks big and strong with that gorgeous masculine Bagheera-like physique, inside he's still shy and scared. He watches with interest as other kitties interact affectionately with humans. So far, he's comfortable coming close to humans to play, sits still to soak in the wonderful newfound feeling of gentle ear rubs as long as there's a barrier between him and the human, and at night he happily plays on the foot of the bed (often pouncing on the feet of the human who's under the covers). It's just a matter of time before the walls come down completely; whenever a human has approached to love on him he's never growled or shown any aggression at all toward an extended hand. It's been clear to his caretaker that Big Manxie has been yearning for a place to belong, to feel secure, and to enjoy being loved. He follows other kitties around just to make sure he's not left alone. He has a sweet and gentle nature, as he's never played rough with his 5-8 feline roommates although they are all about half his size; when he's playing with a toy, he always defers to other kitties who happen to also take an interest in it. Indications are that his consent to human affection is opening up a whole new wonderful world to him that he has only begun to experience. For the patient loving human who falls in love with this handsome boy, Big Manxie is promising to be a very loyal, faithful, tightly-bonded forever friend.

About Austin Siamese Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Austin Siamese Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization, formerly the Austin Branch of Texas Siamese Rescue. We focus on the 14 breeds of the Royal Thai Family, including Siamese, Balinese, Javanese, Oriental Shorthairs and Longhairs, Birmans, Burmese, Himalayans, Ocicats, Ragdolls, Snowshoes, and Tonkinese. All of the cats fostered in Austin are cared for in private homes by individuals who dedicate their spare time to this effort.

Our cats come from a variety of backgrounds. Some faced death at the shelter, while others came from abusive and neglectful households. Still others were treasured companions of guardians who could no longer care for them. What they all have in common is a need for a forever home, where they can live their lives as the happy, pampered cats they all deserve to be. We're looking for the perfect inside home for them!

Our Adoption Process...

Interested adopters go through a careful screening process to include reference checks, telephone interviews, and where appropriate, home visits. No cat will be placed in a new home which allows cats to go outside. The adoptive owners agree to give Austin Siamese Rescue, Inc. the option of reclaiming the cat, should the adoption not work to the advantage of the new owner and the cat.

Adoption fees for Austin Siamese Rescue, Inc. range from $100 to $175 and include such vet work as combo test, vaccinations, worming and flea control, and microchip. We spay or neuter all of our cats prior to placement and most of our kittens, depending on their size and readiness.

For more detailed information and our adoption policies, see the Adoption Info section of our web page.
