Gracie's Story...
Meet Gracie, a 5-6 year-old, 12 lb Chiweenie! What's a chiweenie? A Chihuahua/dachshund mix! She's a beautiful brindle color and has markings like a tiger. Gracie was found along a country road and was fortunately recued before she was hit by a car. She is a very sweet dog who loves attention and gets along with other dogs and cats; however, may get jealous if another dog comes up while cuddling in your lap which is characteristic of small dogs. Gracie may do best in a one dog household, but is currently being fostered on a farm with four larger dogs, cats, chickens, horses, goats, and a rabbit. At night, Gracie loves to snuggle and burrow under the covers! She's a little on the lazy side so would love to find a forever home where she can chill with her person all day! Gracie is microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations, has been spayed, and is ready for her adoptive family to find her! Adoption applications can be submitted online at www.dirtroaddoggiesrescue.org Just mention you’re interested in Gracie!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gracie, a Gillsville Dachshund/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Gillsville, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Gillsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gillsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gillsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gillsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
