Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dora is one of our "special" girls who will need a very special family to adopt her. Her approximate date of birth is January 10th 2016 and she weighs around 12 pounds. We believe her to be a Corgi/Dachshund mix. We took her in at the request of the shelter because she is so scared. She was placed in a foster home and after a week she escaped and was missing for almost four weeks (hence the name Dora......the explorer). Thank goodness a great friend found her and was able to trap her. We brought her home and are continuing with her socialization. She was SUCH a scared pup and still is, but she is starting to come around very, very, very slowly. She will now walk on a leash to go outside to potty, but she heads directly back to the front door and once inside she heads to her safe place...her crate. She has not yet been on a "real" walk. She is not afraid of thunder or loud noises. She is afraid of people. She does not growl, bite, show her teeth or show any aggression at all. She is just so scared of people that she takes a while to connect. We do not know what happened to her in the past, but we hope to give her a much better future! Dora is current on shots, has been spayed, de-wormed, tested negative for heartworms and has started monthly prevention. Dora's perfect family would be an experienced dog family. They must be a very patient, quiet family, but one that will not baby her just yet. She needs firm, but gentle guidance to get her to understand that people are a good thing and they will always protect her from now on. If you think that you are the right family for Dora, please feel free to contact us asap.
