This handsome guy is Howie and he is a total sweetheart. Poor Howie had a rough start to life as he sustained a leg injury (most likely hit by a car) that resulted in the amputation of his hind leg. Don't let that fool you though, Howie is as agile as any four legged dog and loves to play, walk, run and takes stair with ease. At one year old and 40 lbs, Howie is a young boy who will need continued training. But he is very smart and eager to please. He is house trained and fine in a crate, although given the run of the house he seems to do just fine too. Howie loves attention and would do well in a household where he got lots of love and stimulation. A physically fenced in yard would be best too. Howie gets along with other dogs but cats we are unsure about. He does have a high prey drive when a squirrel or bunny enters the scene. During playtime, Howie can be a little growly and nippy with his human. It is all in fun but probably best if he is placed in a family with children over 8 years of age. Overall Howie is not a big barker, however when he needs to notify you that something is up, he does not hesitate. Howie has a beautiful coat and loves to be brushed and pampered. He will thank you with a nuzzle or a kiss and will melt your heart. If you think this darling boy could be the right fit for your family, please send an inquiry today. Howie is a Retriever/Chow blend and is fully vetted and microchipped.
