Alvin was turned in by someone who said they found him as a stray.  This sweet boy is young at heart, and an absolute flirt.  Sometimes he seems to disappear from sight, but be sure to check under the nearest blanket...this boy likes to burrow. He is the quintessential lap dog.

When Alvin arrived into rescue he was in need of a dental and a serious nail clipping.  He was also probably about 2 lbs underweight, but he has filled out nicely and his dental needs have been addressed, though he will need regular dentals. Alvin was also diagnosed with luxating patella, commonly referred to as "trick knee" in both of his back legs. Alvin underwent surgery on both knees, and unfortunately had to have a repeat surgery on one of them, as sometimes happens. This sweet boy has recuperated and definitely deserves a forever home where he can be loved and cherished, especially after such a lengthy stay in foster care.
There is no one that meets this little man that doesn't fall head over heels for him. Alvin has done well with cats and other dogs, though he could easily be an only child, receiving all of the attention. Alvin adores the children in his foster home and does like to sleep with them. We recommend children 12 yrs and older for Alvin's safety.

Alvin is current on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Alvin has tested negative for heartworms and is current on heartworm preventative and flea preventative.

If you are interested in Alvin, please submit a  Dog Adoption Application

Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).

**Local adoptions preferred (within 1-2 hrs of the Greater New Orleans area), but please contact us if you live outside of this area, as exceptions are sometimes made on an individual basis depending on the dog or circumstances. We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.

About Pet Adoption Services, Inc

About Our Rescue Group...

Pet Adoption Services, Inc. is a non-profit all breed cat and dog rescue organization in New Orleans. Supported by over 20 volunteer members, Pet Adoption Services was founded in 1996, although some of our members have been involved in rescue for over 20 years. Our mission is to secure loving permanent homes for homeless, abandoned or abused cats and dogs of all breeds. While awaiting adoption, our animals live in the homes of one of our foster parents. During this time the animals receive any necessary veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccinations, spaying or neutering and heartworm treatment. Our experienced foster parents continually assess each pet's personality and temperament allowing us to place adoptable cats and dogs in just the right permanent home. Pet Adoption Services participates in adoption days during which time, potential adopters get the opportunity to meet and spend time with the animals in a "real life" situation.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Because each of our rescues lives in the home of one of our fosterparents, arrangements will be made for the adopter to meet the pet in which they are interested. Also, PAS holds a monthly adoption day at the Petsmart on Veterans Blvd in Metairie.

Our Adoption Process...

The average adoption fee for dogs is $150, though some adoption fees may be occasionally lower or a bit higher. All animals offered for adoption are spayed or neutered, heartworm negative or undergoing treatment, up to date on vaccinations, treated for intestinal parasites, and microchipped. In addition to completing an adoption contract, potential adopters should be prepared to agree to a veterinarian reference check and home visit. A valid drivers license or state I.D. card is required. This simple yet thorough screening process allows us to place the right animal in your committed, loving home.
