Facts about JJ

  • Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
  • Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
JJ is a beautiful 8 year old neutered male JRT. He weighs about 16lbs, and if you are gentle and kind, and have what it takes to earn his trust, then he will be the most wonderful of companions. Sadly, JJ’s previous owners did not recognize that he suffered from severe anxiety and did not get him the necessary help, and ultimately abandoned him to a kill shelter. Given his history, JJ should not be around small children, older children (13 & up) should be schooled in how to be gentle, patient and slow to react around JJ. JJ would benefit from someone who is Jack savvy and can appreciate the breed for what it brings. Life in general makes JJ a bit anxious, but with his medication (only $10.00 per month; 1 pill per day) he makes a wonderful companion. Anxiety sometimes gets the best of him when left alone for long periods of time, so would prefer his human companion work out of their home, or is retired. JJ is fearful of confined spaces so crating should try to be avoided. With patience and repetition, JJ has come a long way with his car rides and is improving with each trip, but may need extra medication during vet visits to help keep his anxiety to a minimum. JJ enjoys the occasional walk, but would prefer a fenced in yard where he can relieve himself. Long walks, when out of his comfort zone, cause a bit of anxiety. This is changing with patience, repetition and love. Once JJ knows you are not going to hurt him, he is a sweet caring boy who will curl up in your lap as well as your bed if you let him! Are you the right person that can earn his trust? JJ knows what kisses are and will gladly give them out when comfortable with his human companion. He knows all his commands, sit, stay, lie down, touch, very well! He has a nice mix of playfulness, but also enjoys sleeping a lot. He loves to chase balls, and if it has a squeaker, he will entertain himself for hours. JJ is fine with other dogs. He sometimes gets a little anxious around them, but will only pull away, he shows no aggression. He would also be happy being the only dog in the house, with you as his companion. Please contact MAJR if you'd like to make JJ part of your family.
