Listings are done at the request of the dog's owner and as an outreach and community service in hopes of finding these dogs a loving, stable forever home. This is the information that we received from Ragnar's current family:

This handsome fella is named Ragnar.

Even though he’s named after a Viking warrior, he’s really just a big, sweet, cuddly goofball.

We don't know how old he is, but he still has some puppy in him. At 90 pounds, we don’t expect him to get any bigger.

He is great with people and other dogs; however, just because of his size and exuberant personality, he’s probably not the best fit for a house with small children.

He is house-trained, and knows how to use a doggie door. He has been through the Taurus board and train program, and is a quick learner. He is currently being boarded at Taurus.

He will steal your heart if you give him the chance!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ragnar, a Austin Great Pyrenees dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Pyrenees for sale in Austin, or seeking a Great Pyrenees dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Pyrenees breeders who help with Great Pyrenees rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
