Facts about Roan

  • Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut - With White
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: G16-019
Roan is a beautiful 2 year old red/chestnut colored pit/lab mix. He is slender and graceful and very athletic. He loves to run and loves to fetch. Roan can be shy at first but warms up quickly and loves people. Roan has had several homes in his short two years and is now looking for quiet, stable place for his forever home. He needs a person or family who can give him a routine with lots of exercise and a lot of love. He has been to obedience classes as well as sessions with a private trainer. He knows sit and down and stay and is eager to learn more.

Roan would be happy as an only pet but could also be fine living with a female dog. We don't know about cats, but he does like to chase birds. Older children would be fine, but because of his size, we probably would not recommend a home with small children.

Roan is sweet and quiet and totally house trained.

Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial medical and other costs in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we must charge an adoption fee. The adoption fee for Roan is $250.

If you are interested in adopting Roan, please complete our online adoption application at http://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process.html. One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area.

About Grateful Dogs Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Grateful Dogs Rescue was founded in 1990; its mission is to rescue dogs not made available for adoption at San Francisco Animal Care and Control and other local shelters through no fault of their own. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these dogs until a loving home is found.

Grateful Dogs Rescue is always in need of new foster homes!  You can make a difference by fostering. The number of dogs we can save is dependent on having foster parents to care for them until they find their forever homes.

Our Adoption Process...

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy human and happy dog in a "forever home." The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home inspection, and an adoption fee. The adoption fee helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.
