My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carl is a bold, playful, happy, sweet and loving, ten-year-old, 8.5 pound, male polydactyl orange tabby cat looking for a loving guardian.

Carl is living in a foster home with three dogs and two cats and he gets along with everyone beautifully. He also has excellent litter box habits.

Carl is not one to hide; he comes right out of her carrier, checks out his new environment, loves to play with toys! He purrs and purrs, loves to cuddle and rubs all over you lovingly.

Rescued from Chicago Animal Care and Control, Carl’s owner was a cat hoarder who passed away. He and 13 other cats were dropped off at the shelter. A vet tech offered to foster him and noticed there was something different about Carl. First, he has extra toes (polydactyl), but he’s also missing his top lip – a genetic defect, and has a hole in his tongue (which has been surgically repaired) and a hole in the roof of his mouth, called a fistula.

Carl needs no special medical care and no special diet. In fact, he’s an easy cat since he loves everyone and everything! He’s very small and skinny, but I’m guessing he’ll grow with just a little TLC in a loving home.

Amazingly, he does absolutely fine with his abnormalities. His mouth gets a little wet from time to time, so his foster mom uses a wipe to keep his face clean.

Carl is otherwise a healthy senior, had a dental, is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and virus-tested. He had blood-work done and all is normal.

To meet and possibly adopt this sweet and special guy, please contact his foster mom Nancy at teva67@yahoo.com or 773-816-3060. His adoption fee of $75 benefits rescued pets. He is being fostered in Morton Grove, Illinois.
