My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Welcome Catalina!
Blind and abandoned, Catalina roamed the streets until an animal control officer brought her to the local shelter where she was given lots of love and care until she found her way to Pound Dog*Found Dog. Her specialists tell us Catalina was either born without sight or lost her sight shortly after birth. Don't feel sorry for her - after a day in a new environment she's got it down! Don't call her a poor girl - she'll happily jump on your lap or show you her favorite toys. Special needs dogs can compensate beautifully for a deficit and Catalina has proven that over and over. Catalina is full of fun, loves belly rubs and tussling with toys, but is just as happy snoozing at your feet or lounging with the resident dog in her foster home.
Catalina's perfect home would be with adults or very mature respectful older kids, or a low-key household with a consistent routine. She loves car rides and little adventures but is uncomfortable with loud noises. She loves to be spoken to for direction, and she's a fast learner. While she is blind, she sees shadows and happily follows you around the house. She knows where you are at all times and settles in the room where her human is. At night, just like any other companion, she settles down on the couch with you until it's time for bed, at which time she willingly does in her crate to sleep. Catalina is not a high maintenance dog. All she needs is a few extra days to get acclimated to her new environment. Catalina is house trained, crate trained and rarely makes a sound. Spayed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations.
