Sheba's Story...
Meet our lucky girl Sheba! Sheba came to HSSC from Lee County Animal Services when their shelter became overcrowded. Sheba is lucky because she came to our shelter heartworm positive but she has since been treated and is now ready to go home. Being a big girl at 54lbs, Sheba would love to go home to a big yard with an active family that could take her for a run or to visit the park every once in a while. Sheba is only 2 years old so she has plenty of time to grow and bond with her new family. Come in and meet Miss Sheba today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sheba, a Sarasota Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rhodesian Ridgeback for sale in Sarasota, or seeking a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog from a breeder in Sarasota.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sarasota already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sarasota breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rhodesian Ridgeback breeders who help with Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sarasota paves the way for another one to be saved.
