MEET KHLOE -
This 6.5 yr old, 7 lb Black and Tan Dachshund is just a wonderful tiny princess. She is housetrained and is learning to trust people. You see, Princess Khloe was neglected and undernourished. Although she is well on the road to recovery and responding well to the care of her foster family, KHLOE's new forever family will need to continue to process her food (to make it easy to digest) and ensure she receives multiple small meals (3-4) throughout the day so she can gain weight. KHLOE has also just been to the vet where she had a full dental with extractions and the vet said she is ready to find her new forever family.
She truly is a princess with high energy and expectations. She loves to hop around on the carpet, wag her tail and lick your face. KHLOE is also in need of lots of love and attention to feels secure (but then, what princess isn't?). She will tell you if you're not giving her what she needs. The main thing is that she is just so darn sweet and adorable. If you know someone who is able to see the beautiful princess that inside this little tiny Doxie and would like to be blessed with the unconditional love she has to give for the rest of her forevers, please have them complete an Adoption Questionnaire on www.odr-inc.org.
As we mentioned above, KHLOE is learning to trust and love her humans, and she is ok spending time on her own as long as she is in the same room with them. However, since she does need a lot of attention to feel secure, we believe Khloe will do best as the only fur child in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.
Like all Dachshunds, KHLOE is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, princess KHLOE needs a very secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely - she is tiny, so any small gap may provide unwanted opporutnities for exploration out of the yard. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
