My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mickey was an owner surrender to the county shelter when it was discovered he was suffering from Tick Fever. Tick Fever is curable, and HFG found Mickey a foster home so that he could recover and become adoptable. After two months in foster he has recovered completely, and thrived. Mickey is about 18 months old and weighs 41 pounds. He is a shaggy little boy, a Shepherd mix. Mickey is crate trained and has learned to whimper at the back door when he needs to go outside. In a new home he will just need to be shown where to go to give that signal. His foster family included a cat who does not tolerate dogs well, and Mickey learned to give her space; he would even surrender his meal to her if she came by. He so badly wanted to play with the cat that he tried to engage her until she hissed him away. The foster home also had a 30-pound dog who plays rough, and Mickey could play for hours. Initially scared and unsure of the purpose of a leash, now Mickey wiggles with happiness when he sees it, and he can trot out a three-mile hike in no time. He knows the cue to sit, and he is working on his down. If you want an energetic, dog friendly, cat friendly, all-around gentle love, Mickey is the dog for you. The adoption fee is $200 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix. We offer a low-cost vaccine clinic on Sundays from 11:00 am-2:30 pm, and a low-cost dental clinic on Wednesdays by appointment. Visit our website at www.homefurgood.org for more information.
