1y 15lbs of Jack energy, Sally Russell is a ball of energy. Very sweet, loves people and dogs. We haven't yet cat tested her.

Here are her shelter notes:
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds.
Squeeze 2: 3. Dog is soft in body and eye, and moves her legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw
Toy: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is between you and the toy, and she is not stiff. No growling or stiffness.
Summary: Sally displayed no behavioral concerns on her assessment.

PLAYGROUP: 11/28: When introduced off leash to other dogs in the care center, Sally is fearful upon initial greeting. Sally eventually warms up and begins to play exuberantly, often soliciting running chase play.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 11/23/16 During her initial medical exam Sally allowed all handling.

ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (Suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)

Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on on Sundays and sometimes on Saturdays--please ask by writing us at and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application by Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.
Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate!

If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Sundays usually and some Saturdays.  Follow us on FB for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. About Zani's Furry Friends NJ Outpost

About Our Rescue Group...

Primarily we pull cats/dogs from the overcrowded municipal shelters when they are about to be euthanized usually for simple colds as space in all of these shelters is an issue. By freeing up a cage, we actually provide a temporary cage to the next cat or dog coming in. Most of these are wonderful family pets who are given up--they deserve another chance at life.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Saturdays at Corrado's Pet Supply Market Clifton NJ 12-3

Sundays Petco E86th/Lexington NY, NY 12.30-5.30

Our Adoption Process...

adoption process consists of application, reference checks, interview w/ the adopter, interview between adopter and adoptee, home visit, and in most cases a suggested donation
