Hi! Thanks for clicking my picture to learn more about me! My name is Flowers ~ a beautiful name for a beautiful girl! I'm a 10-year-old senior gal who loves comfy beds, short leisurely walks, and getting lots of pets! Heartland rescued me Southern Illinois animal control! I am considered 'special needs' because I take daily medication for hypothyroidism and I also take supplements to help with my arthritis. I don’t mind taking my medications at all!  My eyesight is limited so I prefer people to go slow with me. Many of my friends tell me Special Needs just mean extra Special! I have lots of love to offer and can't wait to find my forever family to share it with! I am currently in foster care, so if you are interested in meeting me, please contact the shelter to set up an appointment! I promise we will fall in love with each other!

About Heartland Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Heartland Animal Shelter is a no-kill humane 501 c 3 organization dedicated to finding homeless pets forever homes while educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets in order to help with the pet overpopulation problem.

Dr. Herbert Preiser, DVM and founder of Heartland Animal Shelter wanted to make a difference by saving the lives of pets who might otherwise be euthanized because of the over-population of unwanted pets. Dr. Preiser opened Heartland Animal Shelter in October of 2002.

Heartland's vision is to eliminate euthanasia to any adoptable animal. Heartland asks for your support by spreading the word about the importance of why pets should be spayed or neutered in order to prevent overpopulation of cats and dogs. Together we can make a difference!
