Facts about Lily

  • Breed: Border Collie Mix
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Lily is a five year old border collie mix. She’s approximately 60lbs, spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations.
Lily is a wonderful pup who wags her tail just because she made eye contact with her human. She’s always happy to have attention and responds incredibly well to come here and ‘go to bed’ commands. She does not like to be left alone, so would be best suited with someone who is retired or who works from home. She is house trained and food-motivated and intelligent so it will be easy-going with further training.
While she will be content to have a chew-toy and stay on her bed if you need some quiet time to work, she is a high-energy breed and will need to be taken for regular walks, or outside to play catch with tennis balls—she hasn’t quite figured out that dropping the ball you threw means you get to throw it again, so bring at least two balls to play with!
Lily ignores most other animals unless they make sudden noises or movements, then she becomes interested but she will come right to you if you call her—she has handled cats and a cockatiel in this manner; she’s also ignored chickens while they were in their coop but hasn’t interacted with them in the yard.
There have been instances of possessiveness with toys and chews, so she would not do well in a home with a younger, more loud and energetic dog, but would probably do well in a home with an older male dog who would be able to give her space. She should also be okay with children who will respect her space.
When outdoors Lily is typically focused and on task. She pulls when on leash but doesn’t engage with other dogs while walking. She’s smart and eager to please so working with her on this shouldn’t be difficult.

• To cultivate respect and awareness for the needs of animals through education
• To advocate for the humane treatment of dogs and cats in all areas of life

Come Meet Our Pets...

We can be found showing off our loveable dogs at Petco on Bakerview and Guide Meridian in Bellingham on the 1st and 2nd weekend of each month. All our showings are between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. Come on out and say hi!

Our Adoption Process...

AHS does not do same-day adoptions. We provide a form called a “Statement of Interest” for potential adopters to fill out. When completed, this form is reviewed by an AHS volunteer (the animal’s Case Manager) who will contact the potential adopter with any additional questions and arrange a meeting if it looks like a good match. The potential adopter usually hears back from a volunteer within 2-3 days, but since many of our volunteers also work at full-time jobs, the entire process can take longer. Although we try our very best we usually will not be able to contact every person who submits a Statement of Interest, we reserve our limited resources for those who look like a good match.

Adoption Fees:
Dogs under 18 months – $200.00
Dogs over 18 months – $160.00
