Parker has had a stressful month. His beloved elderly owner, with whom he has lived his entire life, is no longer able to care for herself or him, and he was taken to a local shelter. He was traumatized by this dramatic change in living conditions. The noise, the smells, where was his recliner, his soft bed, his beautiful guardian, his favorite treats?! After two weeks, he was released to our rescue, where he took up residence in one of foster homes. A quiet home without barking dogs. In just 24 hours, Parker thrived! He was no longer shaking and fearful. He happily climbed on laps and enjoyed a warm bath to get rid of the shelter smell. He gets along well with the resident German Shepherd; he has tried to make friends with the resident Persian cat, but she says 'back off, bucko!' He makes new friends easily. When he visited our Vet today, he was not stressed by the clinical smells and sounds; he was vaccinated and examined without incident. Every one at the clinic loved him. Parker is 10 years old, weighs 10 pounds, and is neutered and current on his vaccinations. He's ready to relocate.
